Technical Information

As simple as LiquidAider is to install and use, LiquidAider is a complex integration of custom molded parts, electronics, custom PCBs, proprietary wireless protocol, and custom firmware.

The handlebar button and pump share a unique wireless identification address in the 2.4GHz wireless spectrum. This is why your handlebar button can never cause another unpaired LiquidAider pump to operate by accident. Multiple pumps can be paired to one handlebar button and they can be re-paired to other handlebar buttons as desired. You cannot accidentally unpair the handlebar button from a pump. 

The handlebar button has no "off" switch. It is always on in a very low state of operation (~5uA) and "wakes up" when used. The pump powers down after 4 hours of non-use. A coin cell (CR2032) battery provides the power for the handlebar button. The pump battery is a rechargeable 500mAh Li-PO battery.

The handlebar button electronics monitors battery charge level. If the button battery is at 25% capacity you still have about 2 - 3 months of heavy use, and the top LED on the button will flash. If the pump is at 25% capacity, you have 10 liters of pumping and the bottom LED will flash. There is also a visual charge indicator on the pump battery.

The handlebar button is used to set the operational mode of the pump. Operations mode is either "momentary" so the pump operates as long as the handlebar button is pressed. Or "Burst mode" so you can set a 2, 3, or 4 second burst. In burst mode, just blip the handlebar button and water squirts for 2, 3, or 4 seconds.

The electronics ensure that outside RF interference is never a problem. LiquidAider will not cause interference with other sensitive electronics or transmitters. Rest assured that score-keeping devices, radio equipment, GPS, and other wireless devices and instrumentation will not be affected by LiquidAider. We are FCC, IC, and CE tested and certified.

The firmware on the custom PCBs dictates how LiquidAider functions. The firmware contains anti-flood protection to ensure LiquidAider never malfunctions and floods the rider. The firmware provides signal redundancy to ensure RF packet loss does not impact performance.

Because LiquidAider is solid state there are no relays or electro-mechanical parts to wear out or break. 

LiquidAider has been in development and testing since 2015. Our patent was awarded in January 2019. Other patents are pending.
